Do you want to download a version of
PC SIMULA for
DOS?.
PC SIMULA was never implemented under windows, but it can be run in a DOS
window ("Run cmd").
- SIMULA is a high level programming language. It was originally
defined in 1967 (SIMULA 67). The latest definition of the SIMULA Standard
was adopted in 1986. SIMULA has always been a well standardized language.
- SIMULA originated most of the ideas contained in what later has been called object-oriented
programming.
- The SIMULA Standard was carefully maintaned by the
SIMULA Standards Group, which
ruled on proposals to changes to the Standard. Any proposal for a change of
some significance would first have to pass the
SIMULA Development Group, to study the impact of a
proposal on the rest of the language.
- The SIMULA community has a user organisation, the
ASU, the Association
of Simula users.
When developing the SIMULA systems, we made some utilities, that others also
may be interested in. Here are
some of them.
Do you want more information on any of the SIMULA systems, please contact us.
Gunnar Syrrist, Simula g.s.
The "fathers" of SIMULA, Ole-Johan
Dahl and Kristen
Nygaard, passed away in the summer of 2002. Please follow the links to view some of
their great achievments in view of the development of programming languages,
among other things. The link on Dahl, seems to no longer be active, but you will
find that both are well documented on Wikipedia today.
